4/13/20: Katy Weber -- Whittaker Functions and Demazure Operators
Abstract: This talk will be a partial summary of a paper of the same name by Brubaker, Bump, and Licata. We "review" the definition of Iwahori Whittaker functions for a reductive group and show that they can be efficiently calculated using certain Demazure-Lusztig type operators. This will allow us to form a Hecke algebra representation acting on functions on the torus of the dual group, as well as to connect Whittaker functions to the geometry of flag varieties.
